Sierra Leonean Students Actively Participate in the R&D Activities of the "Belt and Road" Financial Innovation Platform

(Chu Yifang) On May 16, 2025, the mid-term seminar on the development of the "Belt and Road" financial innovation platform was held in Xinchuang Haihe Laboratory, and 10 Mofcom program students from Sierra Leone were invited to participate in the seminar .

In May, 2023, Kargbo Moses, a 2020 Sierra Leonean Mofcom program student, formally submitted a proposal to the Chinese side in writing to develop a seamless payment system for Sierra Leone (see Figure 2). At the beginning of 2024, Gong Ke, director of Xinchuang Haihe Laboratory, specially led the project to develop the "Belt and Road" financial innovation platform based on Moss's suggestion. Since then, foreign students and some domestic graduate students from the College of Software of Nankai University have actively participated in the research and development activities of the project.

At present, the "Belt and Road" financial innovation platform has completed the development of prototype code. In view of this, the project team invited Fang Yiming (online), Sun Yufei (online), Chu Yifang and Chen Yingyi of Nankai University, Kargbo Moses, the graduate student from Sierra Leone, and nine Sierra Leone students from the College of Software of Nankai University to conduct in-depth discussion on the network and communication infrastructure, banking and financial regulatory policies, user behavior and market environment, and the scene conditions and environment of the system trial site.
