（Wei Pan）On the afternoon of June 17th, the Commencement of Class 2023 Software Engineering Master Program was held in the auditorium on the first floor of the Xingshen Building in the Balitai Campus. Vice President of Nankai University Chen Jun, Chair Professor of Nankai University Tong Jiadong, Director of the Economic Department of Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce Fang Yong, Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Nankai University Chen Lingyi, Dean of the School of International Education of Nankai University Ding Dan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Software College Hu Jun, Dean of Software College Zhang Haining, and Dean of TEDA College Zhang Yuzhi, attended the commencement. The commencement was presided over by Vice Dean of Software College Tian Jun.
41 international students from 15 countries and regions including Ethiopia, Nepal, Afghanistan, Mozambique, and Sierra Leone attended the commencement. The commencement started with the solemn national anthem.
Chen Jun expressed his sincere hope to the international students to be brave enough to explore, constantly innovate, and seek common development, to contribute to the promotion of local science and technology, education, culture, and social development, and to become friendly ambassadors for promoting pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. John, the representative of international students, took the stage to give a speech, thanking the Chinese government and Nankai University for providing learning opportunities, and expressing sincere gratitude for the meticulous management of the college.
Zhang Haining said that international students should uphold the motto of Nankai University and contribute to the rapid development of their own countries. Maintain contact, consolidate friendship, and build a bridge of friendship between the two countries.
Subsequently, the attending guests presented mofcom certificates to the graduates one by one and presented souvenirs to them.
The program of assisting developing countries in academic and degree education aims to cultivate high-end technical, economic, trade, and management talents for recipient countries. Since its establishment, the program has played an important role in helping developing countries cultivate talents and promoting foreign cooperation, and has been increasingly welcomed by developing countries.
The Software College has been approved to undertake this project since 2017, and is the only domestic organizer of the software engineering discipline. It is also one of the largest foreign aid degree programs in China. The students have undergone rigorous screening at all levels and have a high level of quality. The project lasts for two years and is taught entirely in English with thesis guidance. The successful hosting of the Master's program in Software Engineering has effectively promoted the internationalization process of our university.
