Before saying goodbye to China: the graduation visit of software college Mofcom program 2023 class master degree students

(Chu Yifang) In the past month, Software College Mofcom program class of 2023 master degree students from 15 countries conducted a unique visit on the eve of graduation. They went deep into many well-known enterprises and institutions in Tianjin and experienced China's development achievements in the fields of rail transit, vocational education, scientific and technological innovation, chemical industry and automobile export. This events not only provided valuable learning opportunities for international students, but also left unforgettable memories for them before they left China and returned to their motherland.

Exploring the Brain of Subway: Tianjin Rail Transit Group

The international students first came to Tianjin Rail Transit Group and visited the Tianjin Metro Control and Command Center, which is the largest in Asia and covers an area of 5,100 square meters. This is the "central nerve" of Tianjin subway network, which can accommodate the centralized dispatching control of 22 subway lines. The huge electronic screen displays the running status of trains in real time, and the staff schedules each train in an orderly manner.

International students are amazed at the intelligence and efficiency of China urban rail transit. When they learned that Line 8 (the second phase of Line 6), which they used to take, was the first unmanned subway line in Tianjin, the international students were all surprised.

Skills Inheritance: TUTE and Luban Workshop

In Tianjin University of Technology and Education(TUTE), international students walked into the largest engineering training center of its kind in China, with an area of more than 50,000 square meters. Under the personal guidance and narration of Xu Guosheng, a national skill master, they experienced practical courses in spot such as intelligent manufacturing and robotics.

Luban Workshop is a model project of international cooperation in vocational education in China. Gao Yang, Vice Dean of the School of International Education of TUTE, systematically introduced the development of Luban Workshop in Ethiopia with his own personal working experience there. Tola Tsegaye Alemu and Abakuma Getachew, Ph.D. candidates from Ethiopia, further explained the operation and teaching mode of Luban Workshop in detail. The achievements of Luban Workshop have aroused heated discussions among international students from both sides.

Empowering Science and Technology: Discuss the "Belt and Road" financial innovation platform at Xinchuang Haihe Laboratory.

At the beginning of 2023, Kargbo Moses, a Mofcom program student of class 2020, submitted a proposal to China side to develop a seamless payment system for Sierra Leone. At the beginning of 2024, based on Moss's suggestion, Xinchuang Haihe Laboratory formally set a project to develop the "Belt and Road" financial innovation platform.

At Xinchuang Haihe Laboratory, the 2023 class international students, together with system developers, conducted in-depth discussions on the development and construction of the "Belt and Road" financial platform. The two sides further discussed the environmental conditions, scenarios, policies and licensing requirements required for system testing, communication conditions and business environment required for system deployment.

After the visit, the international students said that this trip made them deeper understanding of China's development achievements and enhanced their confidence in promoting cooperation between their country and China after returning home. Seid Hassen, an international student from Ethiopia, said emotionally after visiting Bohai Chemical: " My country is well represented today, thank you for the connection. I would like to thank Nankai University to organize this visit. welcome to Ethiopia."

This visit not only provided international students with opportunities for practical study again, but also further promoted cultural exchanges and technical cooperation between China and countries along the Belt and Road. International students will soon embark on the road of returning home, bringing the "China experience" back to their motherland and continuing to write a new chapter of friendly cooperation.
