Class 2025 Mofcom Program International Students visiting Wuhan and Shenzhen

(Chu Yifang, Chen Yingyi) From January 25th to February 7th, 2026, the Class of 2025 Software Engineering Mofcom Program International Students had a 14-day visit and exchange activity in south China’s Wuhan and Shenzhen. Forty students took the high-speed train all the way, which has been an unforgettable journey of professional study and immersive experience of China's science and technology and cultural exchanges.

China's Optics Valley, Showcasing its hard power in science and technology.

Wuhan, an agile city embraced by rivers and lakes, is a scientific and technological innovation highland in central China. Students walked into Wuhan Donghu High-tech Zone, a hot spot of science and technology, which is known as "China's Optical Valley". They successively visited a number of industry benchmark technology enterprises, deeply explored cutting-edge technologies and application achievements in the fields of optical communication, big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, databases, etc., and focused on leading enterprises such as Wuhan Dameng Database Co., Ltd., CICT and Chutianyun Company, and felt the hard-core strength and unique charm of Wuhan science and technology industry in an all-round way.

China Information and Communication Technology Group (CICT) is a leading optoelectronic information industry in Wuhan and a central enterprise directly under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. In 2018, it was formed by the joint reorganization of the former Wuhan Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (Fiberhome Technology Group) and the former Institute of Telecommunications Science and Technology, and it is also the birthplace of optical communication in China. In 1976, the first practical optical fiber in China was born in its predecessor Fiberhome Technology, bearing the development process of China's optical communication industry from zero to strong. The students stopped at the technology exhibition area, carefully recorded the core technological achievements such as optical fiber transmission and 5G supporting, and took the initiative to ask questions on topics such as technology output and international cooperation. Some kept contact information with enterprise staff on the spot, looking forward to building cooperation bridges in the future.

Founded in 2000, Wuhan Dameng Database Co., Ltd. is a key promoter of the domestic database. It has independent intellectual property rights of core technologies and can provide full-stack data products and solutions. Its products are widely used in key fields such as government, finance and so on. During the visit, the students listened attentively to the explanations, carefully took photos and recorded the core technical details with hand-held equipment, and had in-depth exchanges with the responsible persons of enterprises on issues such as independent research and development of databases and international adaptation.

Chutianyun Company is one of the core carriers of Wuhan's digital economy development. The company focuses on government informationsystem, cloud computing related to smart cities, big data and other fields, and links leading enterprises to build a digital ecology, providing digital solutions forvariousindustries and helping to build a "digital Wuhan".

Probing the innovative prospect of the Special Economic Zone.

After the visit to Wuhan, the team once again took the high-speed train to Shenzhen, continue to explore the development code of China Science and Technology. Participants walked into key innovation platforms and learned about Shenzhen's innovations in the fields of unmanned aerial vehicles, artificial intelligence, VR virtual technology, communication technology,recreationtechnology.

The first stop of Shenzhen's visit was Elephant Antai Robot Company, which isan advanced integrated enterprise in research, development, manufacturing and sales of humanoid robots. It is deeply involved in the field of intelligent robots, and its core product is Mars beauty robot. This robot has more than 30 facial expressions and body expressions, and integrates the simulated humanoid manufacturing technology, cloud brain operating system, multi-sensory system and multi-language large model. It can realize various functions such as intelligent welcome, accurate navigation, consulting service, attracting customers, etc. It is widely used in various venues, service places and physical stores. Its technical achievements are highly consistent with software engineering, and it has also become an important window for students to feel the innovative vitality of China robot industry.

Han’sLaser allowed the students to appreciate the hard-core strength in the field of laser processing equipment in China. The company is the world's leading manufacturer of laser processing equipment, and has been deeply involved in the research and development and application of laser technology for decades. Its core products cover laser cutting, laser welding, laser marking, laser heat treatment, etc. It is widely used in manufacturing, automobile industry, electronic information, aerospace and other fields, and has many independent intellectual property rights. The market share of laser processing equipment ranks among the top in the world.

As a leading daily life service platform in China, Meituan actively embraced new technologies such as drones and artificial intelligence, and began to explore automatic delivery services from 2016. By the end of 2025, Meituan UAV had opened 53 routes in Shenzhen, with a cumulative delivery order of over 450,000 orders, and automatic delivery vehicles delivered nearly 5 million orders, serving hundreds of communities, which not only effectively reduced the delivery load of riders, but also introduced the urban logistics model in more innovative, with its big data analysis, artificial intelligence scheduling and so on.

The students then walked into Kejun (Shenzhen) Company. Kejun is a leading provider of integrated application of XR technology and AI technology in China, focusing on the field of vocational education and training, providing self-owned brand XR hardware, virtual imitation training course resources, vocational education LLM and other products, covering many key industries such as intelligent equipment, intelligent transportation, medicine and health, and devoting itself to building a new ecology of AI digital training, so that students can intuitively understand the frontier progress of integrated application of XR and AI in China.

Kingdee Software has established a joint laboratory with the School of Software of Nankai University. In Kingdee, the students got a deep understanding ofitsbusinessesin the field of enterprise management software and cloud services. As a leading provider of digital management solutions in China, Kingdee Software has been deeply involved in the enterprise service field for decades, focusing on digital and intelligent transformation with the mission of "making business more efficient and management simpler". Its core products cover financial cloud, supply chain cloud, HR cloud and manufacturingservicecloud, serving millions of enterprises around the world, demonstrating the independent innovation strength of China's software industry.

AI era, new picture of ICT Industry

ICT (information and communication technology) is the key area for students to inspect. As the world's leading provider of integrated communication solutions, ZTE is a key communication technology enterprise in this visit. The company has been deeply involved in the field of communication technology for decades, and has a deep technical accumulation in the fields of 5G technology, optical communication, cloud computing and Internet of Things. It is an important participant and contributor to the global 5G standard. Its products and services cover more than 160 countries and regions around the world, and the market share of optical transmission equipment, 5G base stations and other products ranks among the top in the world. By observing its core communication technology demonstration, Students had a deep understanding of the international competitiveness of China's communication technology.

Recommended by Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the delegation walked into the headquarter of OPPO in Dongguan and felt the innovative vitality of the world's leading intelligent terminal manufacturer. OPPO has been deeply involved in smart phones, smart wear, smart homes and other fields, and has made continuous innovations in imaging technology, fast charging technology, artificial intelligence and 5G communication. It has a huge global R&D team and many independent intellectual property rights, and its products are exported to many countries and regions around the world. Its sound R&D system and innovative products have enabled students to further understand the global development achievements of China's smart terminal industry.

The AI wave is sweeping the world today. On February 2nd, the team visited Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The students were surprised to find that after only 20 years of development, Shenzhen Advanced Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences has grown from scratch to become a heavyweight research and development institution in China in three major fields: I-Information technology, B-Biology and M-materials.

Shenzhen Robotics Association, originally established on thebackdropof Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has now become a core academic and industrial linkage platform integrating scientific research exchange, technological innovation and achievement transformation in Shenzhen robotics field. The Association brings together top experts, research teams and industry elites in the field of robotics at home and abroad, and deeply cultivates the research and development of robot core technologies, tackling key components and Industry-University-Research integration. It not only undertakes a number of major national and provincial scientific research projects, but also builds an important bridge for robot technology exchange, personnel training and international cooperation.

The students also visited Huaqiang FantaCulture and Technology Group. Huaqiang Fanta is a leading enterprise in the integration of culture and technology in China. It has been rated as one of the "Top 30 National Cultural Enterprises" for many years. With "culture+technology+IP" as the core, it has created Fanta theme park, series of cartoons, special films and drone light and shadow shows in the whole industry chain. It is one of the few enterprises in China with the ability to design, research and develop, manufacture and export theme parks, and its annual reception volume ranks among the top five in the world.

Subsequently, the students walked into Sangfor Technology Co., Ltd.. Sangfor is a leading provider of network security, cloud computing, terminal security and Internet of Things security solutions in China. It has been deeply involved in the field of information security and cloud computing for many years. With its self-developed core technology, it has formed unique advantages in network security protection, cloud computing platform construction and terminal security management, which has built a security shield for the development of digital economy. Through observing the demonstration of its core technology, the students have a deep understanding of the development level of network security and cloud computing industry in China.

In Skyworth Group, the students felt the charm of the integration of consumer electronics and intelligent technology in the AI era. As a large-scale tech enterprise with smart TV, smart home appliances and new energy vehicles as its core business, Skyworth Group has been deeply involved in the field of consumer electronics for decades, and is one of the benchmark enterprises in China's home appliance industry. It is in a leading position in the research and development of smart TV, the application of OLED technology, and the ecological construction of smart homes. At the same time, it has actively deployed the field of new energy vehicles to achieve diversified development. Its scientific and technological innovations have enabled students to have a more intuitive understanding of the upgrading iteration of China's consumer electronics industry.

The spring tide rises from the Pearl River, and innovation starts again.

Students also visited Shenzhen Reform and Opening Exhibition Hall, Longhua City Exhibition Hall, Qianhai Exhibition Hall and Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth DreamWorks. Through the visit, all had a deep understanding of Shenzhen's innovative development as an opening frontier, promoting Shenzhen-Hong Kong integration and facing the world, and fully understand the development model of Qianhai Cooperation Zone and the achievements of Shenzhen-Hong Kong innovative cooperation.

View the humanistic scenery and enjoy prosperous daily life.

In addition to the immersive science and technology visit, the trip also arranged the experience of human history and urban characteristics, so that the students can deeply appreciate the cultural heritage and prosperous daily life of Wuhan and Shenzhen citizens, while feeling the hard-core strength of China's science and technology.

The students walked into Wuhan Optics Valley Pedestrian Street, and felt the openness and diversity of Riverbank city in the blend of European and Chinese architectures. Walking on the streets, the characteristic shops and cultural scenery matched each other, so that everyone could intuitively experience the vitality and tolerance of Wuhan. Go to Chuhe Han Street, shuttle between blue bricks and tiles and modern architecture, and feel the perfect integration of Chuhan culture and modern commerce in a dazzling array of formats; Walk into the Hubei Provincial Museum, stop to watch the bells of Zeng Houyi, the sword of Gou Jian, the King of Yue and other precious cultural relics, listen to the historical stories behind the cultural relics, and deepen the understanding and recognition of China traditional culture in the rich historical background.

The students also personally experienced Wuhan's characteristic Appolo Go automatic driving service and "upside-down subway" (cross-river section of Wuhan Metro Line 2), convenient intelligent travel and unique urban traffic design, which made everyone truly feel Wuhan's innovative achievements in urban construction and intelligent technology application, and took photos to record this special experience.

The students walked into Shenzhen Huaqiang North Electronic Market and felt the vitality of the global electronic industry. Everyone enthusiastically visited, shopped independently and got close contact with all kinds of electronic digital products, and truly realized the unique charm of Shenzhen as the "electronic capital". Visiting the Shenzhen Folk Culture Village, all watched the cultural performances with China characteristics and ethnic customs. The colorful programs and superb performance skills showed the multi-ethnic cultural essence of China, which made the students deeply shocked and full of praise. Strolling along the coastline in Shenzhen Bay Park, students can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of mangrove wetlands and urban skyline, and feel the ecological beauty and livable environment of Shenzhen in the blend of nature and city.

Gratitude goes hand in hand, and friendship lasts forever.

The visit is coming to an end, and a warm surprise is quietly brewing. In order to thank the teachers led by Nankai University for their careful guidance, the volunteers for their full support, and the Shenzhen Association for the Promotion of Foreign Economic and Technological Cooperation for their meticulous reception service, the students spontaneously prepared a warm thank-you party and fixed this gathering time across the mountains and seas in the most sincere way. The atmosphere at the party was warm and tender. The students personally prepared special gifts, expressed their gratitude in less fluent but sincere Chinese, reviewed the bits and pieces of the visit, and shared their gains and feelings. This friendship is not only the most precious gift of the visit, but also the most vivid testimony of friendly exchanges between China and BRI countries.
